God, the Universe’s Cause

God, the Universe’s Cause

Let’s sit with a big question for a moment — Where did all this come from?
The stars, the oceans, our bodies, our breath, our thoughts. What’s the source behind it all?

It’s a question that science explores in terms of particles and origins, but the spiritual path offers a different lens. One that isn’t just about beginnings — it’s about meaning. About presence. About God as the cause — not just the creator once upon a time, but the very force that sustains and pervades everything right now.

Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamigal, a master of both direct spiritual experience and deep scriptural wisdom, often spoke about this with striking clarity. His teachings remind us that God is not distant. God is not elsewhere. God is the thread behind every form, and the intelligence within every atom.

He didn’t speak of blind belief, but of direct realization — the kind that comes from quieting the mind, deepening inquiry, and looking beyond the surface of life.

Think of it like this: imagine looking at a pot made of clay. At first glance, it’s just a pot. But if you examine deeply, you see — it’s nothing but clay in a particular shape. The name, the form, the function — they’re all temporary. The essence is clay.

The universe is the same. Names and forms are many. Experiences come and go. But behind all of it is Brahman — pure, boundless Being. That is God. Not a person in the sky, but the causal intelligence and presence from which everything arises, exists, and dissolves.

And here's the most empowering part: that same essence is in you.

We aren’t separate from this source. We are of it. When we quiet the ego, when we move beyond the mind’s chatter, we don’t just connect with God — we realize we were never disconnected.

Living with this awareness doesn’t mean floating in some mystical fog. It means walking through the world with eyes wide open — seeing the divine in trees, in traffic, in strangers, in silence. It means understanding that nothing is random, and everything is held within the same sacred intelligence.

Even our struggles, even our confusion, are part of the unfolding. And when we pause, breathe, and remember the Source — we return to peace.

So whenever life feels too big, or too chaotic, or too empty — ask yourself gently, What is the cause behind all this?

And listen for the answer not outside, but within.

Because God isn’t just the beginning.
God is the very ground we’re walking on — right now.
